OKLAHOMA CITY “OLD & NEW”

This tour is being offered on two dates:
FRIDAY, JUNE 19, 2009 – 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 2009 – 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

$55.00 per person

More than one hundred years after the historic Land Run on April 22, 1889, Oklahoma City has grown to a thriving metropolis with a population of more than a million.

This chartered tour will take you through Stockyards City where you’ll see the world's largest working stockyards, then on to downtown and Bricktown for more history.

One of the highlights is a guided outdoor tour of the world renowned Oklahoma City National Memorial dedicated to the victims and survivors of the 1995 Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing and featuring the Field of Chairs, Reflection Pool and Survivor Tree. You will also see the historic churches, some of which were devastated by the Murrah Building bombing. This is an excellent photo opportunity!

Next you’ll see the Land Rush Monument in progress. When completed, it will be the largest sculpture in the world with 46 pieces, depicting the Land Run of 1889 that settled the Unassigned Lands. This is another great photo opportunity!

The tour takes you to the Heritage Hills area that has historic homes of the early day cotton, oil and banking barons and the city’s first grandiose mansion.

Also on this tour is the Oklahoma State Capitol. “The Guardian”, a sculpture of a Native American, crowns the nearly new dome. For 95 years Oklahoma’s Capitol was one of very few state capitols without a dome!

Enjoy a complimentary lunch at Dining on Persimmon Hill. Following your lunch break, you no doubt will enjoy a guided tour of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. And a shopping experience awaits you there!

DOES’ Chartered Tour: $55 per person
